A final advisory package should allow the business to identify the evidence, professional conclusions and unresolved decisions relevant to its project. Receiving several reports does not establish that their assumptions agree. Acceptance should include a structured handover with the appropriate financial and legal owners, while respecting the limits of each engagement.

## Reconcile scope and authorship

List the agreed deliverables and confirm which have been completed. Identify the issuing adviser, date, version and scope of each output. Record omitted or deferred work explicitly rather than assume the final presentation includes every task discussed during the project.

Have the relevant professionals review the terms governing use and reliance. Purchasing should not infer that a report can be shared with any third party or used for a different purpose simply because the business paid for it.

## Review material assumptions together

Use the assumption and issue registers to identify where financial analysis depends on legal assessment or vice versa. Confirm that changes have reached the affected workstream and that final outputs use the accepted factual basis.

For example, a model may still use an earlier commercial term after the legal document has changed. The handover should reveal that inconsistency before management relies on the combined package, not leave it to be discovered during implementation.

## Separate conclusions from next actions

Ask each adviser to explain its findings, limitations and unresolved questions in a form the responsible decision-maker can understand. Identify which matters require more evidence, another specialist or an explicit business decision. A report's completion does not mean the underlying project is ready to proceed without conditions.

Assign owners for follow-up actions. Where implementation is outside the engagement, state who will translate the advice into operational steps and whether further professional review is required.

## Close records and fees carefully

Confirm access to the agreed deliverables and supporting records under the engagement terms. Reconcile authorised scope changes and invoices. Preserve the final version separately from drafts so later users do not rely on superseded material.

Record acceptance of the contracted service without representing it as a guarantee of the business outcome. A useful handover makes the package coherent, traceable and appropriately limited. It gives management a clear view of what the advisers have established and what remains its responsibility to decide or commission next.
