Interior design performance should reflect the quality and usability of information as well as milestone timing. A consultant can issue a package on time while leaving important coordination unresolved. Use measures connected to the appointment and review the causes of delays or revisions before deciding what the consultant or client process needs to change.

## Track stage readiness

Compare each issue with the agreed deliverables and purpose. Record missing information, unresolved assumptions and required decisions. Distinguish a concept completed for discussion from a package ready for pricing. Treating every document issue as the same kind of completion can make a schedule look healthier than the project actually is.

Identify dependencies controlled by the client or other specialists. A delayed selection or missing survey can affect the consultant's work. Keep those causes visible so the review leads to a useful action rather than a general argument about who delayed the project.

## Review information consistency

Track conflicting revisions, unclear specifications and repeated queries about the same detail. Ask whether the issue came from an incomplete brief, a coordination gap or a change after approval. The appropriate technical reviewers should assess substantive design questions within their competence.

Measure correction by whether the relevant recipients received usable updated information. A revised drawing sitting in one person's inbox does not resolve a contractor's reliance on an older issue. Document control and communication are part of the service result.

## Assess decision support

Ask the client team whether the consultant explained the effect of selections and alternatives clearly. Look for evidence that cost, programme and specialist interfaces were identified when relevant. Do not judge the service solely on whether every stakeholder liked the first concept; design development naturally involves choices and trade-offs.

Review the management of revisions and additional services. The client should be able to distinguish agreed scope from a new request and understand the fee consequence before work proceeds. Repeated commercial surprises may indicate an appointment definition that needs correction.

## Agree focused improvements

Select a few material issues and assign an action, owner and review point. Verify the change in the next package or meeting cycle. Retain the evidence for future appointments and renewal decisions where relevant. A useful performance review improves the project's decision and information flow rather than reducing design quality to a single unexplained score.
