A network handover should leave the buyer's authorised team able to identify the delivered equipment, understand the topology and support the accepted configuration. A working connection is necessary but not sufficient. Without usable records, a later fault or engineer change can turn a routine support task into an investigation of what was installed.

## Reconcile the delivered design

Compare the final topology and asset list with the approved design and bill of materials. Record model identities, site locations and authorised substitutions. Ask the integrator to explain any difference rather than accepting an outdated proposal diagram as the as-delivered record.

Link site-specific variations to their approval. In a multi-branch programme, the receiving team needs to know which differences are intentional and which remain unresolved. A generic drawing that omits local changes can be misleading during support.

## Obtain usable configuration records

Confirm the agreed method for transferring configuration information and access through the buyer's secure controls. Do not place credentials in an ordinary shared checklist. Identify the current version, relevant equipment and authorised people who may retrieve it.

Ask the receiving technical team to confirm that the records can be located and interpreted. A configuration file without an associated device or date may exist but still be difficult to use. Resolve that ambiguity while the installation team is available.

## Review tests and open issues

Retain the agreed application, connectivity and communications test results. Identify what was tested, when and under which conditions. Keep temporary workarounds distinct from the final accepted service.

Consider a hypothetical branch that operates correctly but lacks its configuration backup. Record that as an outstanding handover item with an owner and due date. Do not let the fact that staff can work today erase a support dependency that matters when equipment fails tomorrow.

## Transfer the support boundary

Confirm the incident contact, carrier coordination route and process for approved changes. Record which assets, subscriptions and services are covered by the support arrangement and which remain with the buyer or another provider. Include renewal ownership where continuing entitlements form part of the delivered service.

Close the handover against the agreed criteria, using conditional acceptance where appropriate rather than an inaccurate statement that everything is complete. Retain the final record with the purchase and support agreement. The buyer should be able to explain what it accepted, what remains open and how the network can be maintained without relying on the salesperson or the original engineer's private notes.
