# Onboarding a UAE furniture supplier for a commercial project

A furniture supplier should be onboarded around the approved item schedule, finish decisions and delivery conditions of the project. A catalogue image is.

A furniture supplier should be onboarded around the approved item schedule, finish decisions and delivery conditions of the project. A catalogue image is not a complete specification, and a signed order does not establish that every piece will fit the site. Create a controlled record that connects design approval, manufacturing or stock allocation, delivery and acceptance.

## Build an item-by-item baseline

Record the product code, dimensions, material, finish, upholstery and quantity for each item. Identify whether it is standard stock, made to order or customised. Ask the designer or responsible technical owner to confirm suitability for the intended use and any project requirements.

Retain approved samples and relevant drawings with clear references. A colour name alone may not be enough to identify the finish the buyer accepted, especially where several suppliers contribute items intended to match.

## Confirm the supply and approval sequence

Ask which items are available, allocated, awaiting manufacture or dependent on a final sample. Record the approval deadlines and the effect of changes after production begins. Do not let a provisional schedule appear as a committed delivery programme.

For example, a custom table may depend on a final dimension that the site team has not confirmed. The supplier should identify that dependency before manufacture rather than assume the drawing is ready because it accompanied the enquiry.

## Plan site access and installation

Provide the delivery route, lift and doorway constraints, working windows and storage arrangements. Confirm who unloads, assembles, positions and removes packaging. Have the site team review any fixing or installation work that needs specialist assessment or building permission.

A furniture item can match its specification and still be impossible to move into the room through the planned route. Access checks belong before dispatch, not at the loading bay when the delivery team is waiting.

## Test and record the first delivery

Inspect representative items against the approved baseline, including finish, dimensions, function and visible condition. Record discrepancies and the supplier's next action. Separate receipt of packages from acceptance of assembled furniture.

Retain care instructions, product identifiers and the agreed after-sales route. Approve the supplier for the item types and delivery model assessed. A successful stock-chair order does not establish capability for bespoke joinery or a coordinated multi-room installation with different design and programme dependencies.
