Financial-services procurement should verify the exact entity and activity offered, not merely whether a company exists. A corporate registration, technology partnership or group brand can be different from authorisation to provide a particular financial service. Identify the relevant regulatory route and have qualified reviewers resolve uncertainty before the business relies on the provider.

## Match the proposal to a legal entity

Record the name in the agreement, invoice and service terms. Ask which organisation performs each activity and which one handles customer funds or financial instructions where relevant. If an intermediary introduces another institution, distinguish that role from delivering the regulated service itself.

Use the provider's official contact route to resolve discrepancies. Do not accept a different payee or contracting entity solely because it appears in an urgent message from a sales contact.

## Use the appropriate official register

CBUAE publishes licensing information and a register for institutions within its remit. The DFSA maintains a public register relevant to its jurisdiction, and ADGM's FSRA provides its own official register. These are separate sources; choose the route appropriate to the entity and proposed activity rather than treating any one listing as universal UAE authorisation.

Check the entity identity, current status and relevant permitted scope. A firm's appearance in a register should not be described as approval of every product in its brochure or a guarantee of commercial performance. Where the record is unclear, obtain appropriate confirmation rather than infer permission.

## Verify the service chain and restrictions

Ask the provider to explain any partner supplying the underlying financial service. Review the agreement's allocation of responsibility, eligibility conditions and restrictions with the company's qualified legal or risk advisers. Keep technology functionality separate from the authority to perform the financial activity.

For a hypothetical payment platform, a software demonstration can show reporting features without establishing which licensed entity delivers the transaction service. Both questions need clear answers before award.

## Retain a bounded review record

Document the source, date, entity and activity checked, with unresolved questions and owners. Recheck material changes in entity, partner, service or jurisdiction. Do not rely indefinitely on a saved screenshot when the proposed arrangement has changed.

This checklist supports supplier selection and does not provide a legal opinion on a specific financial product. It should leave the buyer able to explain which organisation was verified, what service it is contracted to provide and which limits remain, rather than using a broad regulated label as a substitute for scope-specific review.
