Interior fitout review should distinguish design suitability, professional scope and the approvals relevant to the actual premises. A concept accepted by the client is not automatically ready for construction or building review. Identify the project location, proposed alterations and responsible specialists before treating a design package as complete.

## Describe the proposed work

Record whether the appointment covers layout planning, finishes, joinery, furniture coordination or other defined services. Identify interfaces with building systems, structural work and specialist disciplines. Ask the consultant to state what it will design, coordinate or exclude so responsibility does not remain hidden behind a broad interiors label.

Confirm the contracting entity and relevant professional or activity evidence through the appropriate review route. Requirements depend on the jurisdiction and scope. A company portfolio or a registration for another activity should not be treated as proof that every proposed professional service is covered.

## Identify the applicable building framework

For Dubai projects, Dubai Municipality provides an official Dubai Building Code resource. The project's competent designers and relevant approval parties should determine how the applicable framework affects the actual work. That reference is not a universal permission for all UAE fitouts and does not replace the building, landlord or authority process relevant to the premises.

Ask who confirms requirements, prepares submissions and retains evidence of the outcome. Keep submission, approval and construction readiness as distinct statuses. A client signing a material selection does not establish that an external technical requirement has been satisfied.

## Review the coordinated information

Have the responsible specialists assess dimensions, interfaces and technical details within their competence. Procurement can organise the evidence and decision record without making engineering conclusions. Mark unresolved conditions in the drawing or issue register so they do not become assumptions passed to a contractor.

Require proposed substitutions or design changes to follow the same relevant review. A similar-looking finish or altered partition arrangement may affect other decisions. Keep aesthetic approval separate from technical acceptance and commercial authorisation where different reviewers are responsible.

## Preserve the scope of acceptance

Record the package version, reviewer and purpose of each approval. Identify whether information is for concept discussion, pricing, submission or execution. Revisit material changes before relying on earlier acceptance. This gives the client a traceable fitout decision process without claiming that one generic checklist can establish compliance for every interior project.
