An approval associated with a device does not establish that the proposed network design is suitable, and an experienced integrator does not by itself establish that every model it offers meets the applicable market requirements. ## Identify the actual equipment and use Ask for the manufacturer, exact model and intended function of each proposed telecommunications device. Keep that identification connected to the bill of materials and quotation. Broad descriptions such as enterprise router can hide materially different models or variants. Record whether the supplier is offering an identified device or reserving a right to choose an equivalent later. If selection remains open, define the information and approval needed before the model is accepted. A substitution should not bypass the same verification applied to the original offer. ## Use the relevant official approval route TDRA provides a service for registering and approving telecommunications equipment before it is offered in the UAE market. Where the proposed equipment falls within the applicable regime, ask for evidence tied to the actual model and confirm current applicability through TDRA's information or the appropriate enquiry route. Retain the source and date of the check. Do not treat a general supplier certificate or a document for a different device as equivalent evidence. If the applicability is uncertain, resolve that question before the buyer relies on the proposed approval status. ## Review installation and technical suitability separately Ask the integrator to explain how the equipment fits the required functions, existing environment and support arrangement. Have the buyer's authorised technical reviewers assess the design and configuration assumptions. Procurement can organise the evidence without pretending that a regulatory document answers every engineering question. Identify carrier dependencies, site access and any other approvals or requirements relevant to the actual installation. A particular equipment approval is not a blanket permission for every service, installation location or operating activity associated with the project. ## Preserve the checked identity through delivery At receipt and handover, reconcile delivered equipment with the accepted bill of materials. Record an unapproved model difference as an issue requiring review rather than assuming a similar appearance means equivalent suitability. For a hypothetical branch rollout, the supplier proposes a replacement model because the original is unavailable. Request the revised specification, relevant approval evidence and technical assessment before authorising the change. Keep the commercial consequence visible as well. The completed checklist should state which equipment was reviewed, what evidence supports it and which questions remain open.
