In brief
Before appointing a garage or roadside assistance provider, check that the business identity, service capability and proposed operating area match the work you need. A workshop, recovery operator and mobile repair service may perform different roles. UAE buyers should verify the relevant activity and authority route for the actual location rather than treating a broad automotive description as permission for every service.

Verify the contracting business
Confirm the supplier's legal name, location, relevant business activity and invoicing details through the applicable licensing authority. Ask whether the company that accepts the order will perform the work or pass it to another workshop. Keep the responsible entity clear on the service agreement and purchase order.
For services involving mobile repair or vehicle recovery, ask the provider to identify any applicable operating approvals and the authority responsible. Requirements depend on the service and jurisdiction. Check the current official route instead of assuming that a fixed workshop licence covers every roadside activity.
Distinguish repair from official inspection
A garage's inspection or repair report is not automatically the same process as an authority's vehicle technical inspection. In Dubai, RTA provides a separate technical-inspection service. Check that official service for current requirements when it is relevant to your vehicle. RTA vehicle technical inspection.
Ask the garage to explain what its own assessment includes and what it cannot establish. Avoid accepting a general promise that a repair guarantees any future inspection result. The scope of work and the relevant inspection criteria need to be considered separately.
Check competence for the vehicle type
Discuss the workshop's experience, equipment and qualified personnel for the vehicles in your fleet. Ask how work outside its capability is referred. Specialist systems or unfamiliar vehicle types should trigger an honest explanation of the service boundary, not a promise that every job can be handled in-house.
Review how the provider records findings, obtains approval and documents completed work. These practices help the buyer understand what was done and support later investigation if a complaint recurs. They also show whether the workshop can operate within a company authorisation process.
Document custody and escalation
Clarify vehicle collection, storage, keys, subcontracted movement and the route for reporting damage or a disputed repair. Review the proposed insurance and contractual arrangements with appropriate advisers where needed, based on the actual service.
Complete the checks before relying on the provider for urgent work. An emergency is a poor time to discover that the contracting entity, repair location or responsibility for vehicle custody is unclear.
