Onboarding a UAE workplace training provider

In brief

Workplace training onboarding should connect the course with a job behaviour the employer wants to improve. A course title and attendance list do not establish that the provider understands the learners, their starting knowledge or the conditions in which they will apply the material. This guide concerns adult workforce learning rather than school or university procurement.

A course title and attendance list do not establish that the provider understands the learners, their starting knowledge or the conditions in which they will apply the material. Describe the work problem

State the tasks learners should perform differently after training and the evidence the employer can reasonably observe. Distinguish a knowledge gap from a process or resource problem that a course alone cannot solve. Ask the provider what it needs to confirm before proposing content and delivery.

Describe learner roles, language needs, prior experience and availability without sharing unnecessary personal information. A group with mixed experience may need a different design from a uniform beginner class, even when the course title is the same.

Agree the learning and delivery scope

Request objectives, session structure, exercises and assessment method. Identify what the provider adapts to the employer and what remains standard material. Ask who delivers the course and how a trainer substitution is approved.

Keep certification or external accreditation claims separate from ordinary course completion. The provider should explain exactly what evidence the learner receives and which organisation, if any, recognises it. Do not allow a marketing label to imply a credential that has not been verified.

Prepare the employer's contribution

Name the coordinator for learner invitations, access, scheduling and materials. Identify any equipment or system environment needed for practice. For a hypothetical software workshop, learners need an appropriate training environment; a presentation alone cannot demonstrate that they can complete the intended task.

Agree how confidential company examples are sanitised before use. The provider should not receive live customer records merely because realistic exercises are useful.

Test the first session and handover

Review whether the trainer follows the accepted objectives, gives learners a meaningful opportunity to practise and records unresolved questions. Collect feedback on relevance separately from evidence of learning. Enjoyment is useful information but not proof of improved job performance.

Confirm delivery of agreed materials, assessment outputs and a usable summary for the employer. Record what the provider has demonstrated and what remains untested, such as a different learner group or delivery language.

Onboarding should leave both parties clear about the course's purpose, learner prerequisites and evidence of completion. It should not treat attendance as automatic competence or promise a business result that also depends on management support and workplace conditions after the course ends.
