Identify the reference's role. A designer may know finish approval, while a site manager may know delivery and assembly. Purchasing may have the clearest account of changes and final charges.
Ask how samples and drawings were confirmed and whether production matched them. Find out how the supplier communicated material or source changes. A substitute can be acceptable when assessed, but an unannounced change can undermine a coordinated design.
