In brief
Before appointing an advertising and design agency, verify both the business you are contracting with and the permissions behind the work it will deliver. These checks are especially useful when a campaign combines original design, client photography, purchased imagery, freelance production and third-party fonts. Attractive artwork does not explain who controls each ingredient.

Match the agreement to the supplier
Confirm the agency's legal name, contracting entity, business activity and invoicing details through the relevant licensing authority. Ask which parts of the assignment it performs directly and which it commissions elsewhere. The person presenting the pitch may not be the entity responsible for production or payment disputes.
Identify who can approve the statement of work and any later expansion. If an agency group uses several companies, specify which entity carries the project obligations. Keep that information with the purchase order so finance and marketing work from the same supplier record.
Document the asset rights
Ask the agency to identify original work, stock material, fonts, music, talent appearances and any client-supplied content. For each relevant item, request the permitted media, territories, duration and restrictions. Have appropriately qualified advisers review important ownership and licensing terms instead of assuming that payment automatically settles every right.
The Ministry of Economy and Tourism provides an official collection of intellectual property legislation, including copyright provisions. Assign claims and content review
Give a named business reviewer responsibility for product facts, offer terms and substantiation. Where sector-specific advertising requirements may apply, determine the appropriate review and approval route before production. An agency's willingness to publish a claim is not evidence that the client has verified it.
Check that photographs, testimonials and customer logos have documented permission for the intended use. Remove unsupported superlatives from the brief rather than asking a designer to make them look credible. Keep the approved wording beside the final artwork.
Check the final delivery record
Require an asset register and a list of any materials that cannot transfer with the editable files. Confirm who will retain release documents and purchase records. This matters when a campaign is extended or reused by another supplier months later.
Close the check with written answers on contracting identity, subcontractors, permissions and review ownership. Unresolved rights questions should change the proposed creative route before money is committed to production, distribution or printing.
