UAE new car parts: authenticity and compliance checks

In brief

Checking a new car part requires separate answers about identity, fitment, source and any applicable product requirements. Packaging alone cannot settle all four. Build the review around the actual part and vehicle, and use qualified technical support for suitability rather than treating a supplier's broad statement of UAE compliance as complete evidence.

Confirm the item and its intended application

Record the vehicle identifier, proposed part number, manufacturer and required condition. Ask the supplier to explain any superseded number or alternative. Have the responsible workshop or technical owner approve the match before purchase, especially where an associated setup or additional component may be required.

Keep the product description consistent across quotation, purchase order and invoice. An offer for an unspecified equivalent should not become an order for a named manufacturer without written confirmation. Differences in commercial terminology should be resolved before payment or dispatch.

Verify source claims through suitable channels

Ask how the supplier obtained the item and what evidence can support the claimed source. Where the seller claims manufacturer authorisation, use the manufacturer's relevant official channel to verify that claim. Do not rely on a logo, packaging appearance or an online photograph as conclusive proof of authenticity.

Official manufacturer resources can also support parts identification within their stated market and product scope. For example, Toyota's official parts site provides vehicle and VIN-based search. That resource is manufacturer-specific and should not be treated as a universal UAE fitment database or an endorsement of another seller.

Investigate product requirements without generalising

MoIAT provides conformity-certification services for products subject to technical regulations. Ask the supplier and competent reviewer whether a relevant requirement applies to the exact item, and verify the current basis. Do not claim that every car part requires the same certificate or that a general supplier certificate covers every product line.

Check any product-specific documentation against the manufacturer and part reference. A document for a different family, variant or source should remain an unresolved item until its relevance is established.

Retain a clear acceptance decision

Record the evidence reviewed, technical approver and any limits. For example, a part may be accepted as correctly sourced but still need workshop confirmation of setup compatibility. Preserve that distinction. Revisit the review when the part, source or application changes rather than extending one successful check to every item sold by the supplier.
