In brief
Document-production performance should reflect accepted accuracy, version control and usable delivery. Page volume alone can reward output that transfers checking and correction back to the buyer. Separate printing and typing measures where their production processes differ, while retaining a clear record of the source and approval conditions behind each job.

Define accepted output
For print, identify the checks that establish correct content, material, finishing, quantity and allocation. A dispatch on time is not a successful delivery if the wrong branch variant is packed. Keep production quality and distribution accuracy visible as separate dimensions where needed.
For typing, measure correct entries against the agreed source and track unresolved exceptions. Do not treat a guessed field as completed work. The denominator should include the batch actually assigned, with incomplete or excluded records explained rather than removed to improve the result.
Distinguish error from revision
Classify corrections using the accepted instruction. A provider using an outdated file has a different issue from a buyer changing approved text. Retain evidence and resolve unclear cases from the job record rather than opinion.
Track repeat defects by type. If the same field mapping or finishing problem returns after correction, the supplier should explain what process change will prevent recurrence. Counting each replacement as a new successful delivery can hide an unresolved quality weakness.
Measure useful communication
Review whether the supplier identifies missing specifications or source ambiguities before they affect production. An early clear query can protect accuracy even if it means the original estimate needs revision. A fast but unsupported assumption is not the better service.
For a hypothetical urgent batch, record whether the buyer received a decision request in time to act. Counting emails is less useful than assessing whether the right approver understood the issue and its consequence.
Include commercial and file closure
Track final-invoice accuracy, delivery of agreed editable files and time to resolve open corrections. A job should not be marked fully complete while the buyer is still chasing a material promised output.
Review the internal effort needed to achieve acceptance. If the supplier's price assumes extensive buyer checking, keep that responsibility visible when comparing performance with another provider.
Use the findings to revise the intake template, proof process or supplier allocation. Set an owner and verify the correction on subsequent work. The scorecard should produce a more reliable document programme, not a favourable throughput statistic that conceals repeated rework, missing records or a dependence on one employee noticing mistakes before the output is used.
