In brief
A corporate dining reference should describe how a venue handled a comparable group, not simply whether the reviewer enjoyed the food. The organiser needs evidence about the booked space, menu commitments, guest requirements and final account. Ask someone who was involved in planning or hosting the occasion and can explain what actually happened.

Establish the event context
Ask about the group size, purpose, menu format and time of the booking. Confirm whether the same room or venue team is involved in your proposal. A casual meal for two provides limited evidence for a private dinner with a fixed programme.
Record the reference's role. A guest may know the dining experience but not the commercial terms, while the organiser may know the invoice but have missed a service issue at another table.
Explore the preparation experience
Ask whether the venue confirmed the space, menu and account rules clearly. Find out how dietary or access requirements were reviewed and how limitations were communicated. The reference should describe its experience without disclosing unnecessary personal details about previous guests.
Request an example of a change before the event. Did the venue explain the effect on availability or cost and issue an updated confirmation, or were the parties relying on different versions of the booking?
Discuss an on-site exception
Ask about a late arrival, an unavailable item or an additional order. Explore whether the venue knew who could approve the change and whether the host received a clear explanation. A minor issue handled well can provide useful evidence of coordination.
For example, a group may have needed to adjust service pacing during a conversation or presentation. Ask whether the venue lead coordinated that with the team or whether the host had to repeat the request throughout the meal.
Check billing and use the evidence fairly
Ask whether the final account matched the agreed inclusions and approved extras. Identify how any discrepancy was resolved. Do not convert an unverified complaint into a factual allegation about the venue; record the specific experience and allow material concerns to be clarified.
Combine the reference with a site review, menu assessment and current booking terms. If comparable evidence is unavailable, a smaller trial or additional readiness discussion may be appropriate. The reference is valuable when it reveals how the restaurant manages a group occasion under real conditions, rather than supplying a general compliment that bypasses the details of your event.
